Seattle trip and bits

I went to my Uncle’s in Seattle this weekend. I had fun, but I didn’t go to anywhere UncannyValley-ish. I did go to your mom’s rainforest and the nrrd museum. You may think the latter belongs in this guide, but it’s too proper a spot to me, with it being in that whole Seattle Center complex of museums and stuff. Plus it was just Okay in my book. My uncle liked it a lot though.

As for news in the rest of the world, there has been a birth of a white buffalo calf but details are sketchy.

Also, the poorly-plastinated corpses on display are leaking. The news footage will gross you out a bit.

And there was a billboard defacement complete with animatronics. I hope to have my own pic soon for this one as i can walk my fat ass there and see. Too bad i missed the hubbub though.

More news tardiness

Ok, i am also slow to report on these items. Maybe i should pretend I’m not slow and not mention it and ya’ll will ne’er be wiser. I mean slashdot is always slow compared to the other sites i look at, and people likes them some slashdot. Anyways, here goes:

1) The Museum of Earth History opened the other day, determined to set the record Right on dinosaurs.

2) The makers of Duck brand duct tape (say that fast a few times) have announced the upcoming Duct Tape Festival.

3) And not the least, 50,000 or so spider crabs (not sure the exact species name) are in a huge cast in the bay near Melbourne. Supposedly its some kind of lek. If anyone braves the waters let me know.

French Fry Vending Machine

OK, I’m behind on news. First off is this bit which not only am I late in posting, but I didn’t even hear the news for some time after it happened. Now you may wonder how someone like me can lose touch with the world of hot food dispensed from vending machines, but I’m new at this, so cut me some slack…

Anyhoo, I’m encouraging people to go here more than usual just because I want the idea to spread. Plus I’m hungry.

Museum of Counterculture to Open in NYC

A museum to counterculture is being planned for NYC’s Greenwich village. Although the beatniks are complaining about labelling and so forth. Seems a bit like trying to recapture one’s youth or something. We’ll see how this is when it actually gets built. Article at the NY Times.
